Yankton County will end the year with about two million dollars in the bank. The county commission held their final meeting of the year yesterday (Monday) and set final numbers on several budget items.

Commission Chairman Bruce Jensen says they end the year in good financial shape…

Jensen says a big issue waiting for the new commission next year is replacement of the bridge across the James River on Old Highway 50…

That project could cost more than four million dollars.

The commission also decided to give county employees a dollar an hour raise across the board. Jensen says it is part of their effort to keep good workers…

That passed on a three to two vote.

Commissioners Jensen, Garry Moore, and John Harper are leaving the board after their defeat in last month’s election. Commissioner Alan Sinclair is retiring. Donna Freng is the only holdover commissioner.
