The Yankton County Commission approved conditional use permits for two new hog barns this week. Each could hold up to twenty-four hundred head of hogs.
During the public testimony part of the process, commissioners were asked what they care about.
Commission Chairman Don Kettering says they care about the entire county…..

A statement was also made that the commission was encouraging more hog barn applications. Kettering says that is not their role……

Kettering says the county has to see economic growth to expand the tax base……
The two latest hog barns would be built southwest of Irene.
