Yankton County Commission Opposes SB157

The Yankton County Commission passed a resolution at their meeting Tuesday night opposing passage of SB-157 in the legislature. That’s the bill sponsored by Governor Kristi Noem that would change the permitting process at the county level for development projects.

The resolution passed on a three to two vote. Commission Chair Cheri Loest, who opposed the resolution, says the concern is focused on changes in vote requirements to approve conditional use permits..

Loest says there was an attempt to amend the bill during Senate debate..
