Yankton County Commission Holds Emergency Meeting, Terminates Employee, Open Meeting Law Violated

The Yankton County Commission held an emergency meeting Friday afternoon, with the only agenda item an executive session.
Following the almost hour long closed door meeting, Commission Chairman Dan Klimisch outlined the reason for the meeting….

Klimisch says they then took action…

Klimisch declined to name the individual that was terminated.
Loest says they had some convincing video evidence…

Reporters at the meeting questioned taking action in executive session, but Assistant States Attorney Erich Johnke said reporting the vote was unanimous was sufficient. According to SD condified law 1-25-2,”Any official action concerning such matters shall be made at an open official meeting.”
The commission has now scheduled another emergency meeting at 9AM Monday.
