The Yankton County Commission got an update on the status of the “Johnson Bridge” over the James River. The bridge, on a county highway was closed to all traffic last week after cracks were found on some support girders. The bridge is now open to car traffic only.
Adam Polley, with Clark Engineering, told the commission they have found cracks in three of the main support girders….
Polley says the bridge was built to sixty year old standards..
Polley says they are coming up with a fix that would allow the bridge to hold truck traffic…
Polley says he could have more information for the commission at their next meeting on September 18th.
