Yankton County Commission; Budget Reserve Fading

Both Governor Dennis Daugaard and state legislators are telling counties to “be patient” as dollars from new taxes and fees imposed last year continue to flow down to local governments. The legislature increased gas taxes and vehicle registrations in an effort to fund more local road needs.

Yankton County Commission Chairman Todd Woods says it is difficult to have to wait…..

Senate Bill Two is currently moving through the legislature. It would increase the share that counties receive from the tax on alcohol. Woods says they have some idea of what they would get from that bill….

Woods says they are watching their budget reserve funds dwindle….
