Yankton County Commission Approves Two More Hog Barn Permits

The Yankton County Commission approved two more hog barn permits at their meeting Tuesday.

The applications were made by Karl Schenk, for two twenty-four hundred head confinement units. One will be near Mission Hill, the other near Gayville.

During the public hearing, Lyn Lyons, who lives near Mission Hill, said it is a chance for a family to stay on their farm……

Kristi Schultz, who lives near Mission Hill, asked the commission to deny the permits…..

Commissioner Raymon Epp says people need a chance to make a living off their land…….

Both permits were approved on votes of four to zero, with Commissioner Gary Swensen abstaining.
