Yankton County Commission Approves Hog Facility Addition

An application for a conditional use permit from the Yankton County Commission turned into a lengthy discussion over hog confinement units, manure and being good neighbors.
The application was for an additional building to house twenty-four hundred head of hogs on land near Lesterville. The permit was eventually approved by the commission on a four to one vote.

Commission Chairman Don Kettering says the process is designed to handle the concerns they heard…..

Kettering says he believes the county can enforce its rules on livestock operations…..

Kettering says his questions on the process were answered during the meeting…

The new building will be added to a site that already has two hog barns in operation.
