The Yankton County Commission adopted an emergency zoning ordinance and map at their year end meeting Monday.

The action was necessary after the commission was notified that the ordinance may be challenged due to amendments made in 2006 that may not have been properly adopted.

Attorney Brian Donahoe of Sioux Falls, representing Karl Schenk and Joel Johnson, says the action doesn’t address the problem..

Donahoe says he doesn’t think there is an emergency because there haven’t been any challenges yet..

Commissioner Joe Healy says their action re-adopts the zoning ordinance in full…

The commission approved the emergency ordinance on a five to zero vote.
