The Yankton County Commission, in a special meeting (Tuesday morning) approved an emergency repair plan to fix and reopen a bridge over the James River.
The “Johnson Bridge” was closed after cracks were found in three of the four supporting girders.
Commission Chairman Todd Woods says the repair bid came in well under estimates…
Woods says they hope the bridge can be reopened in about a month….
Commissioner Gary Swensen opposed the plan, saying he wanted heavier steel used for the repairs.
