The Yankton County Commission approved a conditional use permit, and waiver for the construction of a hog confinement building north of Mission Hill.

During the public hearing, Patty Davies a neighbor of the site, said she didn’t see any possible benefits…..

Davies says commissioners, at the least, should add protections to the permits for hog barns…..

Producer Jay Cutts, who wants to build the facility, says it will be a self-contained unit…..

Cutts says they want to raise hogs matched to current marketing practices…..

The commission voted four to one to approve the permit and variance for the hog barn.
