Yankton County Commission Approves Another Bridge Repair

The Yankton County Commission approved a repair plan for the “Johnson Bridge” over the James River, west of Volin. The river has been scouring around the ends of the bridge, and more rip rap will be needed to redirect the flow.
Commission Chair Todd Woods says they have more of these types of repairs coming up….

Woods says they hope it will be more than a temporary fix…..

This repair could cost between sixty to eighty thousand dollars, and will use more than six hundred tons of rock fill.

There was some discussion of liability for changing the flow of the river by fixes at this bridge and another on old Highway 50. Woods says that is a side issue…..

The county highway department hopes to get the rock in place before the spring thaw.
