The Yankton County Commission this week approved the report of their ambulance task force.
That group has been studying the service and made recommendations in an effort to close the funding gap.

Commission Chair Cheri Loest (lowst) says one recommendation is asking that ambulance services be designated as essential by the legislature….

Commissioner Dan Klimisch says he is doubtful the legislature would do that…

Commissioner Joe Healy says they also found many people didn’t know what the ambulance service did….

The commission had earlier approved using an outside billing service for the ambulance.

The task force report was approved on a four to one vote.
