The Yankton County Commission voted to accept the proposed county master transportation plan at their meeting on Tuesday. The plan addressed issues dealing with access into the county and city of Yankton, the pressures of continued residential and commercial development, and areas where there are safety concern and deteriorating road conditions. Priorities were set for regional connection roads and frequent freight and truck routes.
The plan has a proposed budget of about $1 million dollars each year over a planning horizon of 25 years, representing about 27% of the total highway department budget. Within the plan were several contingency budgets and optional local tax options for funding the projects.
