The Yankton Community Holiday Feast is a city-wide Thanksgiving celebration. In its 19th year, the event is free and open to the public Wednesday night at the Calvary Baptist Church from 4:30 to 7:00 pm. The feast is the result of the work of several community individuals. Donna Madson is one of those people, and she says the feast has a great history rooted in the community.

She is joined by Cliff Madson, Marlene and Steve Johnson, and Don Edwards. Not only does the team serve those who come to the church, but they deliver about 250 meals to shut-ins throughout the city. Madson says volunteers have really helped to make the event a success.

The feast this year includes about 90 cooked turkeys, 500 pounds of mashed potatoes, and 175 pies. Anyone wishing to volunteer can call 760-3170 and financial donations can be made at the First National Bank of South Dakota on Broadway.
