Officials from the Yankton School District appeared before the Yankton City Commission Monday night to work out a compromise on funding a full time School Resource Officer. Part time officer Dan Thompson will be retiring at the end of the school year.

The SRO was added in the fall of 2014.
Johnke says Thompson adds more than a police presence…..
City Manager Amy Nelson outlined the tentative agreement…..
The commission gave initial approval, based on final financial details. Nelson estimated it would cost about sixty-five thousand dollars a year.
