Yankton City Commission to Decide on Aquatic Center Opt Out

The Yankton City Commission will decide Monday on a proposed eleven-million-dollar property tax opt out to fund construction of an aquatic center.

Mayor Nathan Johnson says he hopes the commission approves the proposal…

Johnson says he has been getting public encouragement….

The group “Dive in Yankton” has been working to get public support for the project, and has raised over eight hundred thousand dollars toward the center.

Johnson says if the commission passes the opt out, the public has the option to refer it to a vote….

Total cost of the aquatic center is projected at about fourteen million dollars.

The commission meets Monday night, 7PM at the R-TEC building.
