The Yankton City Commission, at their meeting last night, agreed to buy some land adjacent to Highway 50 on the east side of town.
City Planner Dave Mingo said it is part of the planned reconstruction of the highway through town.

Mingo says the land, on the south side of the highway is needed for utility placement.

The city will pay forty seven thousand dollars, with the state picking up the balance.

The four lanes of Highway 50 from Highway 81 east will be rebuilt this summer.
