Two days of meetings and discussions will be held this week to come up with possible development plans for part of the old Human Services Center campus.
The City of Yankton bought about thirty acres from the state, and has held it as green space over the last few years. Most of the old state hospital buildings in that area have been demolished.
The City Commission last night discussed the approach they would like to see with the meetings.
Commissioner Craig Sommer says he wants a “blue sky” approach to that land….
Commissioner David Knoff says there needs to be attention to detail in any plan….
Mayor Dave Carda says he would like to see a multi-use approach…..
There will be a public presentation Thursday evening at the north side fire station, with a more intensive, all day session on Friday.
