Lewis & Clark Lake continues to see heavy inflows of silt and the Missouri Sedimentation Action Coalition is asking local governments in the area to help support a local match to fund an action plan by the Corps of Engineers.
The City of Yankton is being asked to take the lead in initiating the plan.
Mayor Nathan Johnson says the city has the most at stake..
Johnson says the Corps seems interested in taking on this plan…
A part of the federal Water Resources Development Act would help authorize and fund the plan. Johnson says it is something that should be tried….
The action plan would cost four hundred thousand dollars, with local and state government and agencies funding half.
The city commission will get further details at their meeting Monday night, 7PM at the R-TEC building.
