Yankton City Commission Debates Westside Park Upgrade

The Yankton City Commission used an engineering contract as the basis for debate on the proposed upgrade plans for Westside Park. Avera Sacred Heart Hospital has donated two hundred thousand dollars for the improvements, mostly for a new bridge to the island in the pond. Total cost of the multi-year project is about one point four million dollars.

City Manager Amy Leon says it will be a big project….

Commissioner Tony Maibaum was concerned about the costs and timing…..

Public Works Director Adam Haberman says they need to decide soon on ordering the new bridge….

The commission approved the engineering agreement on a seven to one vote.
