The Yankton City Commission Monday night unanimously approved an ordinance setting up the framework for selling medical marijuana.

City Manager Amy Leon says there hasn’t been any public comment on the process…

Leon says the ordinance may have to be amended as state rules are released….

City Attorney Ross Den Herder helped write the ordinance and says he is hearing interest in using it..

Medical marijuana becomes legal on July first under “IM26” that was approved by voters last November. The state Health Department has said medical cards needed to buy the product probably won’t be available until late October.
