It took the Yankton City Commission a long time Monday night to wade through proposed changes to the emergency health ordinance.

That was passed earlier this month and shutdown some businesses and limited public gatherings.

Commissioner Amy Miner says there needs to be a plan in place before more businesses can reopen…

Commissioner Mason Schramm (shrom) says they are in a difficult spot….

The original shutdown ordinance extended through May fifteenth. An amendment was passed on a five to four vote that would allow hair salons, dog groomers and tanning salons to open as of May second.

Commissioner Jake Hoffner says he voted no because businesses should make those decisions…

The commission then voted eight to one to continue the health ordinance through May fifteenth.
