The Yankton City Commission held a long public discussion at their meeting last night about the future direction of the Fox Run golf course.
Fading membership and rising costs have put the course in a financial pinch.
The Parks Department came up with some alternatives including hiring more full time staff to improve customer service to possible looking at an outside management firm to an outright lease of the facility.
Commissioner Charlie Gross says it’s not a new issue…..

Fox Run golf pro Kevin Doby says it is too late to talk about hiring a consultant and doing a report in time for the 2016 season….

The commission decided to go with the first option and hire new staff. City Manager Amy Nelson says they can do that with direction from the commission….

Several of the public comments were critical of the upkeep of the course and the management of the clubhouse.
