The Yankton City Commission voted this week to create a new tax increment district that would provide funding for improvements for the Yankton Mall.

Mingo says a new hotel proposed for the mall parking lot would be the basis for the property tax increase on the site…..

Mingo says at the minimum, the mall owners would be able to clean up the building and surroundings…..

Mingo says construction of the new Fairfield Inn hotel could start this fall.
