They Yankton Area Chamber of Commerce released this statement in response to criticism from Commissioner Tony Maibaum:

The Yankton Chamber of Commerce is disheartened to hear City Commissioner Tony Maibaum’s comments during the time reserved for public comment at the September 25th, 2017 Yankton City Commission Meeting. We all are disappointed in losing the filming of the green flag event for the Amazon Prime series Fireball Run. We do not agree with Commissioner Maibaum’s assessment of the situation. The Chamber of Commerce, Convention and Visitors Bureau and City of Yankton including the Commission have worked closely as a team on the Fireball Run Project since inception of the idea in May 2016.

The Yankton Chamber of Commerce has a long partnership with the City of Yankton and our membership which includes over 500 businesses and individual memberships. The Yankton Chamber of Commerce staff works diligently for our membership and the betterment of the Yankton community. The Chamber Board of Directors supports our professional team as we seek new opportunities for growth and development for businesses and tourisms. We need to continue to unite and move forward with solutions that make the Yankton community stronger.
