An outstanding regular season turned into a disappointing finish for the Sioux City Explorers in the American Association playoffs.

The X’s lost to the Laredo Lemurs in the best of five championship series, dropping a 12-5 decision Sunday in Sioux City. The visitors claimed the title by winning three straight games after Sioux City won the playoff opener.

The Explorers won 75 of 100 regular season games while dominating their division. Laredo was the runnerup in their division with a 57-43 regular season record.
