Xcel Energy is expanding a four-year-old program that lets residential and business customers sign up to receive part of their power supply from wind and solar. Xcel Minnesota president Chris Clark says the program drew huge demand since it’s been rolled out.
The plan to move Renewable Connect forward must be approved by the Public Utilities Commission, but Clark says he is confident it will continue to be a popular option for communities, businesses and residents who want to reach sustainability goals as quickly as possible.
