WTO Ruling Delayed

U.S. agricultural officials who were waiting on a WTO decision over the U.S. appeal of the Country of Origin Labeling decision will have to wait till late May due to a recent delay. National Farmers Union’s Vice President of Programs Chandler Goule says the WTO appellate body has been deluged with cases and unable to move any more quickly. He says the U.S. continues to challenge the original WTO decision that found COOL in violation of world trading rules.

Goule says he expects his group to address the COOL issue at their upcoming Convention this weekend in Kansas.

Goule says NFU has already shared with U.S. trade officials the Auburn University study that showed no damage to Canada’s ag industry over the U.S. COOL law.
