Tickets for Seatbelt Violations Down, Again

Citations written for seatbelt violations in Minnesota were down for the fourth year in a row, during a stepped-up enforcement campaign that ended June 3rd.  Mike Hanson with the state Office of Traffic Safety says Minnesota’s seatbelt compliance rate exceeds 92 percent — and to those *not* buckling up for “personal choice” and other reasons

In 2016, over three-quarters of unbelted deaths were in Greater Minnesota. And surveys show those in pickup trucks are less likely to wear seatbelts than others.
