When Congress returns from the Holiday break this week the Senate Finance Committee will be taking another look at one of the funding sources for the recently passed Water Resources and Development Act or WRDA. Soy Transportation Coalition Executive Director Mike Steenhoek says a tax plan will be brought forward.
Steenhoek says while that’s one funding possibility, it will be an uphill battle.
Steenhoek says another infrastructure funding discussion will involve the highway trust fund which likely won’t come up until later this month. A recent attempt to put in a short term fix of $9 billion fell short earlier in the Senate. That fund faces insolvency later this fiscal year due to a revenue shortfall.
