This week, Congress passed the Omnibus Appropriations legislation which included the Water Resources Development Act 2020 measure. Waterways Council Senior Vice President Deb Calhoun is pleased with the approval of the WRDA bill as it provides a better cost share formula and includes most of the priorities her group’s been looking for.
She says the cost share is in effect for over 10 years and will mean $1 billion more will go to waterways funding.
Calhoun says having this funding approved will be very helpful for not only ag shippers but other users of the inland waterways.
The Omnibus Appropriations Bill also included the Fiscal Year 21 Energy and Water Development appropriations bill that funds the Corps of Engineers.
