The World Trade Organization intend to hold a hearing to determine retaliatory levels sought by Canada and Mexico against the U.S. over Country of Origin Labeling. Canadian Cattlemen Association’s Director of Government and International Relations, John Masswohl says they’re getting ready for that hearing set for mid September and will stick by their claim of $3 Billion in damages.

U.S. Trade Representative Michael Froman has says the real possible damages incurred by Canada and Mexico is closer to $91 million than the $3 billion Masswohl is talking about. Masswohl says the U.S. isn’t giving a realistic damage estimate.

He also says the U.S. needs to totally repeal COOL.

Masswohl says if the shoe was on the other foot, and the U.S. was being damaged by another country, they wouldn’t hesitate in putting on tariffs.
