South Dakota lawmakers continue to watch the progress of the changes made to ag land valuations.

The legislature changed the system from one based on land sales, to land productivity. A task force meets regularly to monitor the ongoing process.

Senator Jason Frerichs of Wilmot says so far, the transition has been fairly smooth……

Frerichs says they still need to work out how actual use of land factors into the tax base……………

Frerichs says the task force will meet later this year to get an update………….

Land values may flatten out as commodity prices have fallen from their peaks a couple of years ago.
