The National Weather Service is making changes to some of their descriptions of winter weather.

Heitkamp says they are looking for terms that more clearly explain what type of weather is forecast…

Heitkamp says the change is due to the “color splash” that can happen to winter weather maps……

Heitkamp says “freezing rain advisories” will also be folded into more general winter weather statements.
