The weather so far this fall has been characterized by above normal temperatures and below normal precipitation. And Nutrien Ag Solutions Senior Meteorologist Andrew Pritchard says it looks like the rest of the winter may not help provide any long-term relief for drought areas of the region.
He says the meteorological set up doesn’t favor any drought busting storm systems or precipitation events.
While South America started the season with favorable weather conditions, Pritchard says it has turned drier in Argentina and southern Brazil and that may intensify due to La Nina.
If that trend continues Pritchard thinks private firms will need to revise their projections for a record soybean crop in Brazil this season.
