Wind Energy in South Dakota Falling Behind Neighboring States’

The South Dakota Wind Energy Association will be meeting tomorrow in Mitchell. On the agenda are several issues related to making South Dakota’s wind industry more competitive. Paul Bachman is the association’s Executive Director says one of the biggest obstacles in the state is the tax situation.

Representatives for Senator John Thune and Kristi Noem are also scheduled to speak about what’s being done in Washington to make wind a more sustainable industry.

Several presentations will be made on the impact of joining the Southwestern Power Pool and an update on the DC Clean Line transmission project. The meeting is open to the public with a $25 registration starting at 9 am at the MTI Technology Center.
