South Dakota’s Amy Williams is Nebraska’s new women’s basketball coach.

Athletic director Shawn Eichorst announced the hiring Monday. Williams will be introduced at a news conference Tuesday. She replaces Connie Yori, who resigned last week.

Williams is a Spearfish, South Dakota, native who played at Nebraska from 1994-98. She’s been head coach at South Dakota for four years, leading the Coyotes to two Summit League regular-season championships, one conference tournament championship and an NCAA Tournament berth in 2014.

The Coyotes won the WNIT this past season. She had a 96-44 record at South Dakota.

Yori resigned last Tuesday following an in-house investigation into allegations she mistreated and overworked players. She has denied any wrongdoing.
