Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts denies he has been approached by President Trump about a possible primary challenge against any re-election bid by Senator Ben Sasse in 2020.
An article in the Washington publication Politico suggests Trump, frustrated by Sasse’s criticism of him, wants a Republican to challenge his re-election.
Ricketts says he has heard no dissatisfaction with Sasse among Nebraska Republican leaders
Ricketts says if he is re-elected this fall, he plans to fill a full, four-year term.
Ricketts also praises the Trump administration.
While Sasse has been a frequent critic of the president, Ricketts has found the administration to be very accessible
Ricketts says he has not heard of any Nebraska republican official not supporting Sasse.
