Jake Virtanen broke the scoreless tie midway through the third period, Anders Nilsson made 29 saves for his fourth career shutout and the Vancouver Canucks beat the Minnesota Wild 1-0.

Wild left wing Zach Parise will miss at least two more months after surgery on his lower back. The microdiskectomy procedure is designed to repair a herniated disk.

Parise has not played for the Wild yet this season. The 33-year-old is in the sixth season of a 13-year, $98 million contract.
