A pair of dramatic finishes Monday have propelled Augustana and Minnesota Moorhead into the championship game of the Northern Sun men’s basketball tourney Tuesday.

Daniel Jansen hit a layup with 2.4 seconds left in overtime to lift No. 1 seed Augustana  (29-2) to a 67-65 victory over North Division No. 4 seed Northern State (23-8) on Monday night at the Sanford Pentagon. Northern State tied the game at 65 after Tydan Storrusten converted a 3-point-play with 22 seconds left.

Augustana held for the last shot and Jordan Spencer found Jansen at the right block and he dropped one in to put the Vikings ahead by two. The Wolves got off a heave before the buzzer but the ball bounced off the rim and the Vikings advance to the NSIC Tournament Championship game for the first time.

.-A running jump shot in the middle of the lane as time expired from senior guard Jordan Riewer was the difference as the Minnesota State University Moorhead men’s basketball team defeated Minnesota State Mankato 81-80 on Monday afternoon. The semifinal win vaulted MSUM into the Championship game.
