South Dakota State University wide receiver Jake Wieneke has been named to the STATS FCS Preseason All-America First Team leading up to the 2015 campaign.
A native of Maple Grove, Minnesota, Wieneke was one of three wide receivers named to the first team following a record-setting freshman season a year ago. The 6-foot-4, 210-pound Wieneke caught an SDSU freshman-record 73 passes for 1,404 yards and a school-record 16 touchdowns en route to a runner-up finish in the balloting for the Jerry Rice Award as the top first-year player in the Football Championship Subdivision. The Missouri Valley Football Conference Freshman of the Year, Wieneke caught a touchdown pass in all eight league games and recorded seven 100-yard receiving games.
In addition,Wieneke was honored on All-America teams by the Associated Press (second team) and Sports Network (third team).
South Dakota State football student-athletes report to fall camp on Aug. 5. The 2015 season opener is slated for Sept. 5 at Kansas.
