Whiteclay Beer Stores Closed, Waiting on More Court Action

Whiteclay Beer Stores Closed, Waiting on More Court Action

There has been a roller coaster of activity regarding the beer sales in Whiteclay. A judge last week overturned a decision by the Nebraska Liquor Control Commission to deny renewal of licenses to four stores. Then the Nebraska Attorney General’s office then filed an appeal. Gordon State Senator Tom Brewer supports the Liquor Commission’s decision and says those four stores face violations that need to be cleared by the court.

Brewer says that issue has to be addressed and he is seeing the Pine Ridge reservation taking steps in the right direction.

The four stores didn’t open yesterday, (Sunday) and will remain closed at least until a judge hears the appeal. That could come on Thursday.
