Four stores in Whiteclay Nebraska that sell millions of cans of beer each year could be without a license by spring.
The state Liquor Control Commission ordered them to file new applications, based on testimony that there is not adequate law enforcement in that rural part of Sheridan County.
Executive director Hobie Rupe says law enforcement is a factor in the commission’s decision making.
Rupe says staff will begin processing applications from the four stores next month.
Native Americans from the dry Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota cross the state line to buy beer in Whiteclay.
