Another meeting is scheduled at the White House today regarding the Renewable Fuels Standard. National Farmers Union’s Biofuels Advisor Anne Steckel says it’s a result of biofuels and agricultural groups turning up the heat on the Environmental Protection Agency for granting Renewable Fuel Standard waivers to several refiners.
She says the EPA is not following Congressional intent or the law by granting these waivers from the RFS.
Steckel says calling the refiners who received the waivers, small refiners is inaccurate.
This is the second RFS issue that has been brought to the attention of the White House and prompted a meeting. The first was when biofuel opponents and proponents spoke with the President about RIN prices.
