The South Dakota Wheat Commission is excited about the new agronomy, fertilizer and shuttle loading facility being built at Kennebec by South Dakota Wheat Grower’s Cooperative. Commission Executive Director Reid Christopherson sees it as a boon for the areas wheat producers in being able to access export markets to the Pacific Northwest.
Christopherson says his board helped provide funding for the rail rehabilitation that helped lead to the new facility at Kennebec and see it eventually paying great dividends.
Christopherson says any continuation of that rail line further West from Kennebec will be dependent on the local ownership, investment and leadership to make that happen.
