A U.S. Wheat Associates study funded by USDA’s Foreign Ag Service shows wheat producers invested an average of $ 4.9 million in checkoff funds per year from 2010 to 2014. Wheat Associate’s Steve Mercer says for every one of those dollars they received up to $ 45 back in increased net revenue.
Mercer says the cost and benefits from the study showed an even bigger return to the overall economy.
He says their study proves the value of the wheat check off and how much it means to not only farmers to the entire economy.
According to the study for every dollar invested by the farmers and the government the estimated return in gross revenue to the U.S. economy was $ 149 dollars.
