December turned out to be a little cooler and wetter than normal in Yankton. Total precipitation for the month was 1.35 inches, with 7.5 inches of snow recorded. Normal for the month is .52 precipitation, with 6.5 inches of snow.
The average high was 31.9, the average low was 12.2. Normal high is 32.4 and normal low is 11.7 degrees.

For the year of 2016, it was a wet one. Total precipitation was 32.52 inches, well above the normal of 23.28 inches.
We also got 41.5 inches of snow during the year, well above the normal of 29.2 inches.

The warmest day of the year was June 11th when the mercury hit 101. The coldest day of the year was December 18th, with a low of 27 below zero.
