Above normal rains this spring in southeastern South Dakota have resulted in wet and flooded fields. Bon Homme County South Dakota Farm Service Agency Executive Director Dave Charles says there will be a lot of prevent plant acres in the county this year.
He says farmers will need to report their prevent plant acres soon.
Charles advises farmers to check with both their county FSA office and their crop insurance agent before making any decisions. He says the crop insurance deadline was May 31 for corn and is just days away for soybeans.
Charles says they should know better next week how many acres have been flooded by the spring rains.
