Three players from Dakota Wesleyan University took home the weekly Great Plains Athletic Conference football awards.

Offense – Francois Barnaud, Running Back – Dakota Wesleyan University
Dakota Wesleyan University running back Francois Barnaud is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Offensive Player-of-the-Week. Barnaud, a senior, from Belle Fourche, South Dakota, helped lead Dakota Wesleyan to a come from behind 23-19 victory over Wisconsin-Stout. Barnaud finished the game with 282 yards on 22 carries along with three catches for 16 yards. He broke a pair of long touchdown runs, going 75 and 57 yards respectively. Dakota Wesleyan will next play on September 13 in their GPAC opener at home against Briar Cliff.  Kick off will be at 1pm.

Defense – Cody Bonte, Defensive Back – Dakota Wesleyan University
Dakota Wesleyan defensive back Cody Bonte is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Defensive Player-of-the-Week. Bonte, a sophomore, from Garretson, South Dakota, had a pair of interceptions for Dakota Wesleyan as they rallied from a 19-7 fourth quarter deficit to defeat Wisconsin-Stout, 23-19. His last takeaway came late in the fourth quarter, securing the win after the Tiger rally.  Dakota Wesleyan will next play on September 13 in their GPAC opener at home against Briar Cliff.  Kick off will be at 1pm.

Special Teams – Daniel Porter – Dakota Wesleyan University
Dakota Wesleyan University kicker and punter Daniel Porter is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Special Teams Player-of-the-Week. Porter, a junior from Plattsmouth, Nebraska, made an impact in all facets of the kicking game this weekend in their 23-19 win against Wisconsin-Stout. Porter flipped the field in the punting game, including one punt for 67 yards as well as pinning Stout inside the 20-yard line three times. He was also a perfect 3-for-3 on PATs. Dakota Wesleyan is 1-0 on the early season and will open GPAC play at home against Briar Cliff on September 13.  Kick off will be at 1pm
